Itinerary Amazing Coffee Region

Day 1- Bogotá

Arrival To Bogotá International Airport, night at Bogotá. 

Day 2 and 3 Manizales Río Blanco:  

Flight to Manizales we will go to Rio Blanco Natural Reserve a nearby location, just 30 minutes from the airport. In this place you will find an Antpitta paradise some of the species are the Endemic Brown-banded Antpitta and the Near Endemic Bicolored Antpitta, other interesting species are Slate-crowned and Chestnut-crowned Antpitta. Here you can also enjoy the hummingbirds and tanagers feeders with some outstanding birds among them Ocellated Tapaculo, Masked Saltator, Golden-plumed ¨Parakeet and Rusty-faced Parrot. We will spend the night in the reserve. 

 

Day 4 Los Nevados National Park

On this third day, we will cover the road to the snow mountain El Nevado Del Ruiz, here we will be in a dwarf forest and Paramo ecosystem that goes from 3000 to 4000 m.a.s.l. this day you will have the possibility to observe the amazing Endemic Buffy Helmetcrest and Rufous-fronted Parakeet. Other interesting birds in the area are Black-chested Buzzard-Eagle, Black-backed Bush Tanager, Tawny Antpitta, Andean Condor, Many-striped Canastero, Andean Lapwing. On our way down we will make a stop in Termales del Ruiz Hotel where other hummingbirds such as Shining Sunbeam, Golden-breasted and Black-thighed Puffleg, Rainbow-bearded Thornbill and Sword-bellied Hummingbird are constantly seen. In the Afternoon we will Go to Otún Quimbaya Fauna and Flora Sanctuary and spend the night there.  

Day 5 Otún Quimbaya Sanctuary

Our day begins early in the morning to look for the Hooded Antpitta a very rare and beautiful bird that can be seen. Cauca Guan, Crested Ant-Tanager and Multicolored Tanager are also possible, Red-ruffed Fruitcrows are abundant in the area, so we will have good possibilities of meeting with one of these among many other birds that are part of this reserve. In the afternoon we will be heading to Montezuma Natural Reserve and we will spend the night in its facilities.

Day 6 Montezuma Rain Forest

Montezuma is one of the best birding places in Colombia, located in Tatamá National Park, it has an unparalleled bird diversity due to its altitude range that goes from 1100 to 2800 meters. This is one of the most diverse regions in Colombia Choco, with amazing birds such as Indigo Flowerpiercer, Glistening-green Tanager, Club-winged Manakin, Beautiful jay, Munchique Wood-Wren, Black Solitaire, Yellow-collared and Chestnut-breasted Chlorophonia, Black-and-gold and Gold-ringed Tanagers, Semicollared Hawk, Velvet-purple Coronet, White-faced Nunbird, Tatama Tapaculo, Greater Scythebill among many more. During our stay we will cover several hotspots along the Natural Park.

Day 7 Montezuma Rain Forest - Bogotá

We will do some birding in the morning and after lunch we will go to Pereira city where we will take the flight to Bogotá. Night at a nice Hotel in Bogotá

Day 8 Bogotá - Destination

Flight from Bogotá to your destinations.
